Over the weekend, I ran a 5k with our eight and twelve year old. All in all, we had a blast, and I was very impressed with both of them. For our eight year old, it was his very first race, and he performed admirably.

In the time since I published my RunKeeper vs. Nike+ comparison, I’ve had several people ask me if RunKeeper is accurate. The short answer is yes, mostly. The slightly longer answer is not always, and when it’s wrong, it’s really wrong.
Yesterday afternoon, I went for the longest run of my life. The total distance was 6.5 miles, and it took me 73 minutes to complete. I ran every step of the way – albeit somewhat slowly – and I felt pretty good at the end.
Last weekend, I ran my second 5k. This came on the heels of my first 5k just 12 days prior (on Memorial Day). This time around, my race report will be relatively short, as there’s much less to report.
I’m sitting here basking in the glow of my first 4 mile run. I’m also trying to stop sweating. On the way home from work last night, I got a text from my son that read “Just ran 4.2 miles. Own.” Ouch.
Well… My first 5k road race has come and gone. All in all, it went really well. My son and I decided to run together instead of racing, though I suspect he would’ve wiped the floor with me if I had let him. Next time around, we’ll probably race for time.
Well… I’ve successfully completed Week Seven of the Couch-to-5k running program. The good news is that the runs haven’t been all that challenging. The bad news is that my hip pain has gotten worse.
Well… Week Five of the Couch-to-5k running program is in the books, and I’ve already embarked on Week Six. Once again, I did the workouts on Sun/Tues/Thur instead of Mon/Wed/Fri, and I’m starting to feel like that’s a pretty good groove. I think I’ll stick with the new schedule, at least for the time being.
