Earlier this week, I created an account on PhysicsDiet.com. In case you’re not familiar with PhysicsDiet, it’s a great (and free!) charting tool for tracking your weight loss progress online. I’ve only been using it for a few days, but so far I’m impressed.

Earlier today, while rowing my way toward the end of an 8km workout, I was struck by how much I prefer workouts of a specified distance vs. those that go for a specified time. This got me to wondering how others feel…
One of my favorite forms of exercise is rowing. Thus, I was thrilled when I saw that Concept2 is sponsoring a Holiday Rowing Challenge. In short, they’ll make a charitable donation of $0.02 per 1000m (1km) rowed for everyone that rows over 100km between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
A few weeks ago, I had an epiphany when it comes to maintaining motivation for an exercise program. Instead of setting “idealized” goals that I’d periodically fail to meet, I’ll be much more consistent in the long run if I set my sights a bit lower.
I’m 6′5″ and far from what I would consider “fat.” Nonetheless, I could stand to lose a few pounds, so I thought that it was high time that I formalized a goal. My approach thus far has been to simply focus on leading a healthier lifestyle, figuring that weight loss will be a byproduct of any changes that I make.
One of my main goals recently has been to never skip more than one day in a row without doing some sort of exercise. Unfortunately, life sometimes gets in the way, and I’m not always able to achieve that.
I have two primary rules when it comes to working out: (1) Never skip more than one day in a row, and (2) Finish any workout that I start, barring injury or the threat thereof. These aren’t written in stone, but I do my best to follow them.
