Weight Loss Update – May 2010

by michael on June 7, 2010 · 0 comments

The month of May is now behind us, and we’re well into June. It’s thus once again to take a look at my weight loss progress over the past month. As I’ve noted in the past, I track my weight online with PhysicsDiet, which does a nice job of smoothing out the data and providing an estimate of my “true” weight.

As you can see from the graph below, my weight lost progress wasn’t nearly as consistent in May as it was back in April.

That random spike on May 4th was likely due to a particularly salty meal the day before, as my weight dropped right back down the next day.

The primary disruption came a bit later, when I had to take a week off from exercise (May 9th-15th) due to hip pain from running. As I’ve noted in the past, my weight loss progress seems fairly reliant on my exercise program. Once I returned to running, things seemed to get back on track relatively quickly.

The other blip during the month was around May 21st-26th, when I was taking Celebrex and had a bout of what appeared to be Celebrex-related weight gain. Fortunately, this was just a temporary thing (presumably due to fluid retention), and the weight evaporated as soon as I stopped taking it.

For the month, I was down a bit under two pounds with an estimated calorie deficit of 189 calories/day.
