It’s the last day of April, and I’ve had my morning weigh-in. Thus, it’s time to take a look at my weight loss progress over the past month. As I’ve noted in the past, I track my weight online with PhysicsDiet, which does a nice job of smoothing out the data and providing an estimate of my “true” weight.
As you can see from the graph below, I had a very consistent month, averaging 1.06 pounds lost per week. This works out to an average daily deficit of 529 calories.
The blip back around April 5th corresponds to both Easter and the beginning of our Spring Break vacation. We ate out a huge meal on Saturday, and I also chowed down on some Easter candy on Sunday. The good news is that I didn’t see any appreciable vacation weight gain while we were on the road.
Aside from that one bump, it was a very smooth ride. As I’ve noted in the past, my 2010 weight loss goal was to shave off 15 pounds, bringing me down from 245 to 230 by the end of the year. I’m well ahead of schedule, and it looks like I’ll need to set a new goal sometime soon.
With a Memorial Day 5k on the horizon, I’d actually love to reach 230 by race day. Given my progress during April, that’s not out of the realm of possibility. It might take PhysicsDiet a bit longer to catch up, but hopefully I’ll be seeing weigh-ins somewhere around 230 by the end of next month.
As for how I’ve been losing the weight, I haven’t done anything extreme. I’ve been eating breakfast (usually raisin bran and yogurt) every day, making somewhat healthier selections for lunch, and we’ve also been eating at home more often. Aside from that, I’ve been keeping up with the Couch-to-5k running program, chopping some wood, and working in a bit of additional exercise whenever possible.
