By the time you read this Couch-to-5K update, we’ll be well on our way to the beach for a glorious week of rest and relaxation. Have no fear about Week Three, as I’m still planning on completing it next week while we’re on the road.
That’s actually one of the great things about running — it’s 100% portable. I don’t travel much, but when I do travel, things can get hectic and I often fall off the exercise wagon. As I’ve noted previously, that’s one of the reasons I want to start running.
Anyway, enough on that. Here’s my weekly running recap.
Monday: Gorgeous morning in the high 40s. The sun was shining, but the roads were wet from overnight rain. Felt very strong throughout the run, as if I could’ve done much more, but… I stuck to the plan. Soccer game for one of our kids tonight, not time for any other exercise.
Wednesday: I squeezed in an hour on the elliptical, burning 951 calories, before work on Tuesday and then followed it up with Week 2, Day 2 on Wednesday. Nothing significant to report. Weather was great, spring has sprung.
Friday: It’s starting to really warm up around here. It was only 50 or so degrees when I ran, but today’s high is in the 80s. My legs were a bit tired for this third (and last) day of Week Two because I squeezed in a 10km rowing session late Thursday evening before running on Friday morning. Regardless, all went well, and I’m looking for to Week Three.
There wasn’t a bonus Saturday run this week due to our travels. I did, however, squeeze in a bonus hour on the elliptical on Friday afternoon (960 calories!) in advance of what will likely be two days of rest. I’m then planning on picking up with Week Three on Monday.
