Whew! A couple of weeks ago, I wasn’t sure I’d make it this far without a long layoff. Instead, I’m just a week late. After taking time off to let my hip heal, I powered through Week Eight of the C25K running program, and am back on track.
On Sunday, I actually cut things a few minutes short since I hadn’t run in a week and was running out of steam. I ended up going just shy of 2.5 miles in 25 minutes.
When I woke up on Monday, I was sore and my hip was very tender. I thus decided to make an appointment with a local orthopedist for later in the week.
On Tuesday morning, my hip was still bothering me, and I was afraid I’d have to take another break to recover. By the end of the day, however, I felt much better so I decided to go out for another run. This time around, I did the full 28 minutes and felt great doing it.
I woke up on Wednesday feeling fine, and fairly confident that the worst was behind me. Nonetheless, I kept my orthopedist appointment just in case.
On Thursday, I had I went to the doctor just after lunch, and then went for another 28 minute run in the afternoon. And just like that, Week Eight was behind me.
Next up is Week Nine, which I wrote up last week even though I was a week behind. The schedule calls for three 30 minute runs, though I’ll probably transition to distance-based workouts as I get ready for my first 5k — coming soon, on Memorial Day!
